Javea commited UD Beniganim to only their
second defeat of the season in a spirited
match at the Municipal Stadium. Topping
the table, Beniganim arrived with a fearsome
reputation for goal-scoring but the rojiblancos
fought hard to carve out a 2-0 lead through
goals from Juan Ochando (pictured) and
another from loanee James Lindie, his
seventh of the season and third in three
games. A horrific defensive error allowed
the visitors to claim a consolation but
CD Javea proved to be more than a match
for their illustrious opponents and held
on comfortably to claim maximum points
and move to within three points of the play-offs.

Javea failed to capitalise on their dominance
over a poor side and paid the price when
Picassent CF bundled home an equaliser in
the dying seconds of injury time. James
Lindie got himself on the scoresheet once
again, firing home a second-half opener.
However the home side lifted their game
after the goal and were rewarded with a
share of the spoils after panic in the rojiblanco
defence resulted in the ball nestling in
the back of the net. Two points lost.

CD
Javea moved to within three points of the
play-off zone after a well-fought 3-1 win
over Guadassuar CF, one of the pre-season
favourites for promotion. Latecomers would
have missed an early barrage of goals; loanee
Dan Harvey opened the scoring after just
a couple of minutes with a stunning long-range
strike before the visitors capitalised on
some woeful defending to equalise just seconds
later. On six minutes Juanito scored to
put the rojiblancos back in front
after which there was a lull in the free-for-all
scoring before James Lindie powered home
just before the half-hour mark to put the
home side in a commanding position. Guadassuar
worked to get themselves back into the game
but the rojiblancos held on to claim
all three points.

A
3-0 defeat is disappointing and no amount
of spin can hide the fact that the rojiblancos
were comprehensively beaten by a side that
has aspirations to make an immediate return
to the Third Division. Roared by a very
large and passionate crowd, the home side
commanded the game against an albeit persistent
side from Javea that refused to accept defeat
until the final whistle. The rojiblancos
slip one place to seventh with two great
chances to catch up in the coming fortnight.

CD Javea
might well have inflicted a first defeat
of the season on close rivals UD Oliva in
a fantastic game of football at the Municipal
Stadium in Javea. Oliva made the very short
journey down the coast on top of the Group
III table and accompanied by a noisy band
of fans. But the rojiblancos made
the league leaders look anything but top
notch as the fans in the stand raised the
temperature and provided a great atmosphere.
Scott (right) might have snatched a late
winner but his effort was cleared off
the line some minutes after Lindie had a
terrific effort blocked by the keeper at
close range.
